1. E ALLORA IL FIUME
E allora il fiume,
potrebbe arrossire di vergogna
per quel suo corpo
senza trasparenza, per la sua
perduta purezza.
Dove comincia un fiume
a raccontare la storia
delle pietre che ha sgretolato
del mare già incontrato
dove comincia a pronunciare
il suo nome a carezzarsi
i lunghi capelli
e si solleva le vesti sotto i ponti
– e poi brucia l'amore
o una corrente furiosa d'odio.
Questo fiume è
un fiume anche se
nessuno lo nomina?

And then the river -
might blush with shame
for its opaque body, for its
lost purity.
Where does a river start
telling the story
of the stones it has crumbled,
of the sea it has met before
where does it start speaking
its own name, caressing
its long hair,
and it takes off its clothes
under the bridges
– and then love starts burning
or a furious current of hate.
Is this river
a river, even if
nobody names it?
